Traditions

 We have several family traditions this time of year.  We always start by setting up our Christmas tree as soon after Thanksgiving as possible.  This year it was the Sunday after.  We had so much fun.  Jaylee was overwhelmed with the coolness of it all.  She can't stop touching all the ornaments.

 Carlee loved being able to stand on the ladder to add some decorations to the tree.

 Another tradition we have is to get the girls a new Christmas ornament each year.  These ornaments usually represent what they are interested in or something they've done throughout the year. This year Carlee got Barbie walking her pet poodle (Carlee LOVES puppies, not to mention Barbies).  Jaylee has a Princess Barbie. Both of which she LOVES.  I don't think I've seen her without some sort of costume on for weeks.  Not to mention all the barbie movies we've watched.  She likes to be called princess Jaylee or Princess Bob (thanks for that nickname Dave!).  Chlo got a nutcracker ornament.  She has always loved the nutcracker story so this fit for her perfectly!

 Dave and I even got some this year!  Dave got a 1963 Corvet (the only year they had a split back window) and I got a Christmas tree decorated with shoes. 

 After the tree decorating we headed outside to do our first official snow shoveling for the season.  The girls were so excited to get on their snow gear!

 Chlo even helped for a bit until she got distracted building a snow castle. :)

 One of the next traditions is to make gingerbread men for our tree.  We did this for FHE.  They love this tradition because it gives them a chance to use their own creative side.  We had everything from Christmas trees to shoes to crowns and candy canes.  It's so much fun!

 

Of coarse after all the cooking is done we have to hang the gingerbread on the tree.  This time of year is so fantastic because there are so many fun traditions and things we love to do together as a family.  I can't wait to start more traditions and to continue on with the ones we have yet to come!
