New project

So last night for a Relief Society activity they had a few super talented ladies teach how to make little girl hair clips and "brain squeezers". It was SO much fun! I can't wait to make more. They were so easy and turned out pretty good. Now I just need to work with Joey and Shannon to learn how to tie the ribbons, then I'll be totally hooked up :) If anyone ever wants to know how we did these - let me know! You'll love it!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Good morning Everyone. I hope you all are safe after last night's snow situation. Fortunatly for us, Dave was fine - even though it did take him quite a bit of extra time to get home. My mom and dad ended up in a hotel in Nephi, Dave's buddy at work ended up at a friend's house, my friend's dad spent the night at Artic Circle and her husband spent the night with an Aunt...Wow, what a mess! School's out here have been cancelled - so it is truly a "stay home and play day". It should be fun. The girls and I are gearing up to make sugar cookies, roast and poatoes and maybe homeade rolls if I'm still functioning by then. :) The picture attached is thanks, once again, to Dave's work buddies. I love it! It's going to be my Valentine to you all, just remember, HE'S MINE!!! :) I hope you all have a great day today! Please, Please be safe!

Twilight

So, have all of you read this series??? If not GO READ IT!!! What a fun series, word to the wise, if you read the first one - be SURE you have the second and third on hand... You won't want to stop. My sister in law told me about Stephanie Meyer's website where there is more information on the series and I found out her 4th book Breaking Dawn is going to be released on August 2 of this year! They are also filming the first book Twilight right now and I happend to find a movie poster on-line. I can't wait - so all you die-hard fans, we're having a party on December 12 of this year, movie and dinner??? (the printed date on the movie poster isn't correct)
Also, I have a goal this year to read at least one new book a month - Any suggestions???

It's a ....

GIRL

Can you believe it??? Yes, we're going to be doing the girl thing again and I can't wait! It was pretty crazy in the ultra sound room though, tension was high as the tech was looking for the gender, at first the baby's feet were covering any kind of view, stinker! But because she's such a mover and a shaker it only took a second before she moved to reveal herself :) It was funny to watch Dave's face, he was truly shocked, as was I... Both of us were SURE it was a boy so when they said girl, Dave's face dropped. He made the comment that the important thing was that the baby was healthy and had 10 fingers and 10 toes... Needless to say when we had to make a quick stop at Walmart he spent a few minutes browsing in the boy's toy section... Dave, you can get as many GI Joe action figures for yourself and our girls as you want! Besides, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get Dan to come beat on you, or Shannon said you can borrow Case any time :) Dave really likes Stella Boobsley, but that was quickly vetoed :) We are truly excited to be having another girl, bring on the pink!!!

Treat with a Treasure

Last night I had one of my Personal Progress activities for the YW in our ward. We had a BLAST! We did a getting to know you night where I'd had each girl fill out a survey beforehand telling us a bit about herself. Using the answers they provided we made a game out of it. Needless to say it turned out to be really fun and quite loud, just the way I like it :) For the refreshments my really great friend Mindy had an awsome spin on an old favorite. Most of you probably know my favorite cookie recipe, if not, I'll include it at the bottom of the post. Anyway, to add flare she stuck a rolo in the middle of each cookie! YUM! So as you bite into this chocolate heaven a bit of carmel drizzles out. So like each girl, the cookies have a "treasure inside". I'm so glad I have the opportunity to work with the YW in our ward. We have such amazing leaders too! I always come home a little better and happier after I've spent time with them. :)

Cookie Recipe:

1 chocolate cake mix (I like triple chocolate fudge)

2 eggs

1/2 cup oil

Mix together and roll into balls (this is where you'd roll the rolo inside) Cover the rolled cookie in powdered sugar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350 for 6-8 minutes. Don't over bake them, they will look under-cooked. EASY! This recipe makes between 18-30 cookies depending on how big you roll them. - Remember, you don't have to add the rolo, it's just a variation. They're actually really good without too.

Variations:

Add a spoonful of peanut butter to the mix before cooking (thanks Julie! Great idea)

Use a spice cake mix instead of chocolate for a spin on Ginger Snaps.

Of coarse, roll a rolo in the middle for a little added surprise!

Reading Time

There is nothing better than a good friend. Carlee was enjoying some friend time this weekend with her good old friend Bonden. I couldn't hear them for a few minutes, and with kids that age that tends to be a bad thing. I went back into her room and found the two snuggling in her bed under the covers reading stories together. SO CUTE! I'm so glad my girls have been blessed with such great friends!

A Day with Mom

So I've decieded I need to spend lots more time with my mom. I feel like every time I spend time with her I leave much better than I came. Yesterday I went over to spend the day with her. We had a blast! She showed me how to make these new flannel blankets. They are SO much fun! (Shan, no hand sewing either!!!) I so much appreciate her taking the time to spend with me and my girls. She also took time to make us lunch and read several stories with the girls and even taught Chlo how to read several by herself! What an amazing lady. I'm so lucky to have such wonderful women in my life.
